Joshua Stephens serves as Director, Policy and Government Affairs for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. In this role, he works on policy and legislative-related initiatives and serves as the primary point of contact between the Georgia Department of Economic Development and other state executive agencies, as well as the legislative branches of both the state and federal government. He also serves as a liaison to companies’ leadership and government affairs teams, providing valuable insights into protocol, relationships, and strategy.
Prior to beginning his current role at the Georgia Department of Economic Development in 2020, he served in other business development, economic development, or policy-related roles within the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Department of Economic Development, Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, Georgia State Senate, and in construction.
Joshua was born and raised in northeast Georgia and is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the UGA Men’s Basketball team. He is also an active member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), various government affairs organizations, as well as a community volunteer with the City of Peachtree Corners. Joshua and his wife Sarah live in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, where they are raising their young son and daughter.
